We put the final touches on Miss Avery's nursery just a few days before she was born so I didn't get the chance to share pictures on here! That is how we had planned to announce her name to the blog world, but she had plans to come on her due date and I didn't want to hold off that announcement...no way!
Here is a little tour of our sweet girl's nursery... Sorry for the picture overload! :)
Here is the entrance to her room. There is a hall bathroom to the left and our master bedroom is to the right of her room.
The paint color is Glidden's "Pebble Gray" color-matched in Behr paint. We got her crib at BRU and our sweet friends from our Kenya missions team got us her musical mobile. Her bedding is the Penelope print from PBK. The bunting flags (is that what they're called?) are left over decorations from one of our showers.
Nathan installed her fan and we both made the Martha Stewart tissue poms. I like the smaller poms better because they aren't so floppy, but I made the bigger ones first, so we just stuck with that.
We ordered her glider from Amazon and it arrived within 3 days! It doesn't quite match her white furniture, but we wanted to get something that would match the rest of the house as well, for when we decide to move the glider out of her room. My sweet friend Laura made the colorful blanket/decor throw and gave it to us at our shower.
This is the frame collage wall we spend a lot of time on! We picked up all of the frames from Goodwill on one of their 50% off Saturday sales and then clean them and painted them all white. We filled them with scrapbook paper, verses, prints, and other little things...
Here are a few closer pictures so you can see what's in them...
This verse is Psalm 45:11--"The King is enthralled by your beauty; Honor Him for He is your Lord." We want Avery to always know she is beautiful and perfectly made by God. We plan to add stickers to the pink frame under her name to display either her birth date or birth stats, so we left space for that.
For her monogram, we just used wooden letters from Hobby Lobby and modpodged scrapbook paper on to them. The tulle is left over from our shower decorations. My friend from Kentucky sent me the yellow Kentucky frame last year. I LOVE it. Now there is a little piece of Kentucky in Avery's room. The purple scrapbook paper on the bottom left now has her little footprints in it, thanks to the nurses at the hospital. They did a great job getting her little feet stamped on there.
I loved the teal-colored Keep Calm print and we added another favorite verse we hope will help mold Miss Avery into a humble little girl, Micah 6:8 "Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with your God."
After we got the birdie crib bedding, we started really liking "owl things." The meaning of Avery's name is "noble and wise," so we thought owls were fitting anyway. We saw this print at Ikea for cheap, so we picked it up. I love all the bright colors. Then we realized we didn't' have any type of shelves to put her books and other "stuff" so we got a little cheap-o from Target and it fits just right between her closet door and entrance door.
The little bird house and books were shower gifts/decorations and the piggy bank is the first thing we bought for our baby girl. And she has a little stash of bows and headbands, but many of them are SO big on her right now! :) Little peanut!
Baby Av's closet! Luckily, she has a walk-in, because the room was a bit small and we couldn't fit her chest of drawers in there very well, so in the closet they went.
The chest of drawers fits perfectly on the side of her closet and gives me lots of storage space for her folded clothes. That way, I can use her other dresser drawers for her cloth diapers.
And a little piece of our Alma Mater...the University of Louisville, where we met and got married! Little girl will bleed RED soon enough, I'm sure. :)
A close up of her sweet bedding and the Boppy I got from my sister.
Some of Little Girl's cloth diaper stash. She will have to grow into these pocket diapers! She is a skinny minny!!!
And a couple more pics on the way out...
Hope you enjoyed her little nursery tour! We spent quite a bit of time getting it ready...even though she sleeps in a bassinet in our room for now. :) It will be all ready when she gets to move to her big girl crib! She loves all the colors in her room and is already fond of her glider. I'm sure we will spend a lot of time in there.
