5 Weeks

Avery,

Just like that, you're 5 weeks old!  Your little personality is starting to come out.  We know your cries, your moods, your motions.  We (usually) know if you're hungry, if you need to burp, or if you just want to be walked around.  You definitely know who your Momma and Daddy are.  You turn your head towards us when you hear our voice.  You are starting to flash your little grins, not just in your sleep anymore!  It is the sweetest thing!  We have seen your big gummy smile (and dimple!) a few times, too!  You are still sleeping, napping, and eating great!  I don't think I've mentioned this in your updates before, but you don't like to be swaddled!  We swaddled you in the hospital and then for about a week after coming home.  You started wanting your arms out, so I let you sleep with them out and you did fine.  Then, I tried you with no swaddle at all and you still did fine.  So, that was an easy one to break! :)  You do take a paci a few times per day when you need a little soother but are too full to eat anymore.  I am trying to not let you become dependent on it.  Thankfully, you do not need it to fall asleep at this time.  Your one month check up is tomorrow and I think you have to get one or two shots.  I'm sure you will handle it like a big girl but I am not sure how I will handle it!  I broke down when you had to get your little heel pricked, :(  mostly because it woke you from a sound sleep.  You are holding your head up a lot these days!  It's still a little wobbly at times but you are noticeably stronger each day and have really good neck control.  You are literally growing before our eyes!  It is time that we start planning a trip to Kentucky so you can meet all of your family, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, doggies, etc!!  Momma and Daddy also want to plan a little weekend getaway for our anniversary in May, but don't worry, you can come along this time!  As always, you are a joy to have and we just love holding you, talking to you, and just looking at you.  You are our favorite little baby girl and we love you to the moon and back!
