When Avery was 6 days old, my Mom flew out here to stay with us for a week. She was SUPER helpful! It was time for Nathan to go back to work, but I was still slow at getting in and out of bed, going up and down stairs, and etc, so it was awesome to have her here to help. My Mom booked her flight about 3 months prior, but it ended up being perfect timing!
Avery loved meeting her "Momma K!" She is their fourth grand baby! They got lots of snuggles and Avery loved being talked to so much! After her early morning feeding, I would leave her with my Mom while I went back to sleep! SO nice! My Mom cooked and cleaned up after every meal and even brought me breakfast in bed a few times! It was awesome. We are so thankful for all of her help!
Simon, Avery's "Poppa Si," couldn't come this time, but we got to Skype with him and we look forward to taking Avery for her first visit to Kentucky here in a few short months.
At just 10 days post surgery/baby, I went out with my Mom and left Avery with her Daddy. She did good, just napped! We walked around Ulta and that was just about as much walking as I could handle! So, my Mom made the trip in to Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries while I waited in the car. Then, a couple of days later, we went to visit the Queen Creek Olive Mill. My Mom (and I), love cooking with olive oil and we really like this little olive mill here in west valley Phoenix. She picked up a few new bottles and then we went to Target. I was pushing my luck a little with that much walking and moving around, but I did ok. We were gone for about 3 hours and by the time we got home, Baby Girl was ready to EAT! I think I heard her tell her Daddy to not let me go to Target without her anymore. :) I don't think I'll leave her for more than 3 hours for quite a while.
My Mom also helped me take Avery to her weight check doctor's appointment, to the hospital for her second PKU heel prick, and to my 2 week post partum check up. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't had her help while Nathan was back at work (I couldn't drive!). Since she was able to come out here to help us, Nathan split up his second week of parental leave and decided to take off 5 Mondays in a row. That is a win-win, because his work weeks are shorter and we get longer weekends with him here! :)
One last picture as we dropped my Mom off at the airport to send her back home...
We definitely had a great and fun visit and I know Avery loved meeting her Momma K. We can't wait to see her again!!!
Then, just a few days later, Avery got to meet her Grand Daddy and Grand Mommy. Nathan's parents also came out here from Kentucky to meet Miss Avery and to spend a week helping us out and getting to hold their first grand baby.
They were also a huge help to us! Nathan's Mom cooked and cleaned up every meal and they even cleaned up the house, too. We were so, so thankful for all of the help!
I was able to get out and walk a little more that week, so we made several trips to our favorite place, Target, and rode around to places here and there.
Avery loved meeting her Grand Daddy and Grand Mommy. I think she especially liked being talked to and sleeping in her Grand Daddy's arms!
Just as all good things must come to an end, our visitors had to head back home, too. We are so blessed to have had so much help. Since I had a c-section and all of our bedrooms are upstairs in our house, we really appreciated the extra help! And to get meals and a clean house on top of it all, is just super awesome! Avery is blessed to have really loving grandparents...all of them!! I just can't say how much we appreciated their help and to see how they love our girl so much. We can't wait until our next visit!!
